The Philadelphia 76ers swept Brooklyn Nets during the first round. The Sixers, led by Joel Embiid are now in the second round of postseason. The Sixers won the series with ease, beating the newly formed Nets. James Harden, Tobias Harris and other players who were the team’s primary shooters also had a great game.
Embiid played three games in the series, averaging 20 points, 11 rebounds and four assists. Tragically, the MVP had only been selected for the postseason. Joel was injured in Game 3 and could not play the final game of the series. The Sixers didn’t have a problem with Embiid against the Nets. But it would be a big problem if he sat out any of the games in the second round.
The Sixers are set to play the winner between the Boston Celtics vs. Atlanta Hawks. Philly is expected to play the Celtics, led by Jayson Brown and Jayson T. Tatum . The Sixers are in a bad state of health after Embiid released his injury update. Embiid is expected to be back at the start of the second quarter, but he will have to endure the pain.
Sixers fans are in a precarious situation as their team has not advanced past the second round of the playoffs for the last five seasons. The Sixers don’t seem to be as bad without Embiid. Harden, Maxey and Tobias Harris are all doing a good job. The Sixers could hold off the Celtics scorers if they keep performing the same.
Joel Embiid would not be happy if Sixers lose in the second round
Embiid had a fantastic season and is most likely to win this year’s MVP Award. It is unfortunate for both him and the team that he was injured during the playoffs.
Since Embiid arrived, Philly has not been to the Conference Finals. The team looked to be in a good position until the injury reports were released. Twitter was flooded with Sixers fans who were shocked by the news.
Philly has been the only team to advance into the second round. Though Embiid’s status following his return has not been confirmed. If the pain worsens, he might be forced to play off the bench.
