Canada GP May Get Cancelled as Lance Stroll Home Race Faces the Same Fate as Imola

The Silver Arrows are expected to deliver more of the same after a thrilling race at the Circuit de Barcelona Catalunya, where Mercedes established itself as a contender for the World Championship. The first five races of 2023 Formula One did not go as Mercedes predicted. However, the customer team Aston Martin made the most of this situation to climb to second place on the Constructors’ Standings thanks to Fernando Alonso’s amazing skills. Nando’s performance completely eclipses that of Lance Stroll, the scion from the Aston Martin Racing Team.

Lance Stroll is the son of AMR’s owner Lawrence Stroll. He has been having a tough time lately in F1. The fans have repeatedly pointed out that the Canadian driver’s poor performance is dragging down their team, even though Fernando is doing his best to excel in every situation. Lance Stroll was forced to retire after crashing at the Monaco GP. He had zero points and Fernando Alonso finished P2. Lance Stroll needs to show his value and what better place to do that than at the Canadian GP in two weeks?

As luck would have, Lance Stroll’s home race could be canceled from the F1 calendar for this year. According to recent reports, the Canadian Grand Prix may be at risk because of a natural disaster. This is after the Imola tragedy forced Ferrari to scrap their home race. The northwestern part, or province, of Quebec has been covered by a thick smog layer, which is reducing visibility.

Montreal, which is home to the Gilles Villeneuve Circuit and is part of Quebec has also been subjected to smog alerts and air quality warnings. In these conditions it is near impossible to organize an F1 race, so the Canadian GP may be cancelled.

The F1 team can be at risk of health problems due to the deteriorating air quality in Montreal

Environment Canada, the Canadian weather agency, is concerned by the particulate matter (smog) and particle matter that are causing the air in the northwestern Quebec region to worsen. In its official statement, the agency stated that “Smog is especially harmful to asthmatic children as well as people who have respiratory problems or heart disease.” These individuals should avoid any intense outdoor activity until the smog alert is lifted.

Earlier in the season, Imola GP was cancelled due to floods that threatened the lives of locals. AlphaTauri headquarters in Faenza was the worst hit, and their new recruit Yuki Tsunoda helped the crew clean up the mess after the natural catastrophe. It remains to be determined whether or not the Canadian GP race can be held despite the bad weather, and if Lance Stroll’s race at home will also be cancelled.
