The 2023 Miami GP was one of the worst race weekends ever for Ferrari and Charles Leclerc. Since the beginning of the Miami GP, the Monegasque driver had been experiencing problems with his car. During FP2, Charles broke his suspension after crashing his Ferrari during turn 7. The incident showed that he had lost traction when navigating the high-speed corners.
Charles Leclerc was not finished. The Ferrari driver made the same mistake during qualifying and was penalized by the red flag. The whole grid got shuffled, with Sergio Perez gaining pole position and him qualifying in P7. Max Verstappen, a Red Bull driver, also had his qualifying ruined by the flag. This meant that he’d start from P9.
Max Verstappen won the race after a strong charge. His teammate Sergio Perez came in second. Charles Leclerc, on the other hand, struggled throughout the entire race. He was stuck behind Haas cars for over half of the race. It was a tough start for Ferrari in 2023. Their own Formula 1 car is their Achilles’ heel.
Charles Leclerc reveals Ferrari’s main problem that is putting them at a disadvantage
The Monegasque has some things to say about the problems with the car. “Yeah, I mean, just now I spoke with Carlos. What we lack is consistency on the vehicle,” he said. “The car… It’s not from corner to corner. Just in the same corner, I can have an enormous oversteery and then an enormous understeery. “Our car is affected by the wind,” he said.
Ferrari hasn’t had the best race in Miami 2023 but this seems to be a trend for the season. Carlos Sainz, and Charles Leclerc struggled with the car throughout all 5 races. The team is working on an upgrade that will bring them close to or even at par with Red Bulls in this season.
