As part of WWE Draft, Cody Rhodes moved from SmackDown to Monday Night RAW on last week’s SmackDown. Cody Rhodes’ main goal, which he had been striving for since WrestleMania39, was now gone.
Cody Rhodes fought against The Tribal chief, Roman Revigns for the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship on The Grandest Stage of Them All. He gave it all but lost. Since then, he’s vowed to finish the story with Roman Reigns. The American Nightmare has not changed his goal to dethrone Reigns, despite being in a rivalry with Brock Lesnar.
The American Nightmare, in an interview with Comic Book Nation revealed that, despite moving to a new brand, his goal to defeat Roman and win his titles, has not changed.
Cody said that a lot of things would have to happen before he could face Roman Reigns in the Undisputed WWE Championships. Cody stated that he would be interested in the new World Heavyweight Championship if he could dethrone The Tribal Chief. Cody, however, is focused on his match against Brock Lesnar in Backlash.
Cody Rhodes and Brock Lesnar’s rivalry
Cody Rhodes, who had lost at Mania, was surprised to be paired up with The Beast. The two unlikely partners were to face Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa as a tag-team match. Brock, to no one’s surprise, turned on Cody before the match even began. He then brutally beat Cody to death.
Cody was left injured by that unforgivable beating for a couple of weeks. The American Nightmare, despite his injuries, challenged Brock Lesnar. The Beast was a fear that even The American Nightmare felt. He was still ready to face Brock, and make him the victim. Cody, who was not 100%, appeared again on RAW the following week to face Brock. Brock Lesnar accepted the challenge and they will now face off this Saturday, at Backlash.
Cody Rhodes, the WWE’s biggest babyface at present. Fans hope to see him defeat The Beast, and then face Roman Reigns and defeat him.
