Fernando Alonso Main Goal for Miami GP After Missing Out on Podium in Baku

The times have changed. Fernando Alonso has returned to the top. He hopes to continue the momentum he has gained in his first four races as a Aston Martin driver. Alonso has been busy preparing the fifth round of the Miami Grand Prix. Alonso is aiming to be the best in this first of three races that will take place in the United States during the current season.

The Spaniard came close to finishing on the podium at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. He came fourth, behind Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and the Red Bull duo. The 41-year old scored 12 points to remain third in the standings. Formula 1 will be returning to its normal design in Miami after introducing a new sprint format at the weekend.

Fernando Alonso said, “The circuit is fast [in Miami], with many tight turns and long straights. We will have plenty of time on Friday to assess the impact the repaving has made on the track. Our performance in Baku had been encouraging, and I am hoping to achieve similar results in Miami. We will do our best to beat our rivals and give a great show to the fans .”

Fernando Alonso finishes on the podium in three of his first four races

Aston Martin experienced a busy weekend in Azerbaijan. The team did score 22 points. The team was only one step from a podium. Alonso acknowledged that the car performed well, despite the limited time available for the setup change. Silverstone’s outfit struggled with DRS all weekend, but still managed to achieve solid results.

The Aston Martin driver has been enjoying a good run of success. Fernando Alonso may even be tempted by the prospect of extending his contract with his team. This season, his goal is to achieve good results. Alonso has ruled out a championship fight in 2023 due to Red Bull’s dominance. He believes Aston Martin will be able to compete for the title by 2024.

After Baku, Fernando Alonso has 33 points less than the leader Max Vertappen in the championship. The Spaniard will eventually be able capitalize on Red Bull’s misfortune to win his 33rd event. Lady luck is in his favor, and he has the talent for it. Alonso hopes to achieve similar results in Miami as he did at the previous four races.
