Ons Jabeur vs Beatriz Haddad Maia: Preview

Jabeur has finally reached the quarterfinals of the French Open. She has reached the final eight of every Grand Slam event. In the fourth round, she faced Bernarda Pera and won 6-3, 6-2. No player, except Olga Danilovic has ever been able take a single set from the Tunisian.

Jabeur, despite winning the Charleston title, could not maintain the performances at the surface. She has silenced critics who doubted her chances of winning in Paris. The ‘Minister for Happiness’ is still on her way to winning her first Grand Slam Singles title despite the rowdy crowd and booing at this year’s French Open

Beatriz haddad maia continues winning hearts with each passing match. She is in the midst of her comeback as she makes her first Major quarter-final. In the fourth round, the 27-year old Brazilian faced Sara Sorribes Tormo and they played a thrilling match. The Brazilian won after a three-hour and 51 minute battle.

It was her third straight three-set victory. She has proven herself in each round despite being challenged. She became the first Brazilian to reach the quarter-finals of the French Open since 1968 (55 year ago). Her match against Tormo was also the longest women’s tennis match this season.

Ons Jabeur vs Beatriz Haddad Maia: Prediction

Maia’s nerves and Jabeur will be the biggest challenges in the quarter-finals. The Tunisian, who has been a Grand Slam finalist twice before, will have a slightly more settled mentality. Jabeur has a 11-2 record on clay in this season, while Maia is only 10-4. Maia is sure to be out for revenge, as Jabeur holds a 1-0 head-to-head lead with the match that took place this year in Stuttgart. The Tunisian lost a bagel.

Both players will fight hard and fairly, so the match should be balanced unless someone doesn’t turn up. The combination of Jabeur’s business experience and Maia’s fighting spirit should make for a great match. It’s hard to pick a clear winner, but Jabeur edged out the Brazilian in a match that should be closely fought.

Prediction: Ons Jabeur will win in three sets
