Hendry cejudo’s retirement rumors started spreading like wildfire after he lost the title fight to Aljamain Sterling. Triple C finally decided to answer all questions regarding his retirement. The 36-year old mixed martial artist chose to come out from retirement on 6 May. Many believed that Cejudo could win the Bantamweight championship and make a comeback worthy of a fairytale. The result was the opposite.
Henry Cejudo hasn’t stepped foot into the Octagon for three years. UFC 288 was a test of his skills. Aljamain Sterling won the fight by a split-decision. Cejudo said that his future is not set in stone in the Octagon during the post-fight interviews.
Cejudo was evidently discouraged by Sterling’s split-decision win. The former double champion said to Joe Rogan: “I don’t really know what to do next Joe. I’m confused at the moment.” If I continue. If I don’t win, I am last. My biggest goal if I couldn’t beat Alja was to get up to 245 lbs. If I don’t win, I know exactly where I will end up if I do not succeed.
Cejudo said that he wanted Volkanovski to be in Australia. He also mentioned “Aljo” and O’Malley. I want him to fight in his backyard .”. At the UFC 288 Media Day, UFC President Dana White attempted to convince Cejudo not to retire. He claimed that he had only been able to do this three times, once with Khabib Nurmagomedov, and the other time with Daniel Cormier. The third fighter was Henry Cejudo.
Cejudo may have debunked all retirement rumors, as he challenged Merab Dvalishivli to a fight at UFC 292.

Henry Cejudo demands Merab Dvalishvili fight at UFC 292
Henry Cejudo wants to get back in the game after spending three years on the couch. He will be facing No. Merab Dvalishvili, the No. 1 ranked bantamweight competitor at UFC 292 Pay-per-View (PPV), will be fighting in Boston.
He finally broke his silence about his MMA career when he called Aljamain Sterling’s teammate. Cejudo tweeted: “This sh** is far from over!” @danawhite @MerabDvalishvil’s head should be on a platter! #ufcboston.”
Dvalishvli responded immediately to the call out, saying, “Let’s Go!” “I will take another @funkmasterMMA leftover… for now!” Merab refused to fight teammate Sterling and the promotion could keep the 135 pound assembly line moving by pairing him up with Cejudo.
The Machine is currently on a winning streak of nine fights, which includes legends like Jose Aldo or Petr Yan. The 32-year old fighter’s winning streak was largely due to his grappling skills. Merab avoided the championship fight because his friend and teammate holds the bantamweight title. It will be interesting to see if Merab can fight for the bantamweight championship in the future.
