Holger Rane and Carlos Alcaraz are two of the brightest stars in the ATP Tour right now. Holger Rune made his debut in the 2022 season when he won the ATP 1000 title at Paris. The Danish teenager has made a great start to his 2023 season by winning the Bavarian International Tennis Championship two weeks ago.
Carlos Alcaraz, on the other hand, has been unstoppable since 2023 after returning to play following a long layoff due to injury. The Spaniard won the Barcelona Open in 2023 and is now on track to defend his title at Madrid. Carlos Alcaraz, currently ranked ATP number one in the world, is clearly a cut above his competitors.
Frederik Lochte Nielsen, a former doubles tennis player, believes that Carlos Alcaraz and Holger Rane will be the most important rivalry in tennis for the next few years. He thinks that both players can bring out the best in each other and are on a level playing field to reach the same heights as the great legends.
Frederik Lochte Nielsen says Carlos Alcaraz’s physique gives him an edge
Frederik Lochte-Nielsen believes that Carlos Alcaraz has an advantage over his competitors at the moment because of his physique. Former tennis player Frederik Lochte Nielsen claimed that Holger rune and Carlos Alcaraz were similar in many ways, but Carlos Alcaraz’s physical ability gave him an edge.
Frederik Lochte-Nielsen is confident Holger Rune will develop physically and become a force. He thinks that Holger Rune, the champion of the Paris Masters in 2022, has no weaknesses and will only get stronger over the next few years.
They are both players who play the game of tennis to their fullest potential. Alcaraz may be a bit ahead of Rune at the moment because Alcaraz has a better physique. He is naturally strong, but once Holger develops that strength, he’ll be a nightmare for any player to face because he has no weaknesses,” said Nielsen.
Holger Rune’s run at the 2023 Madrid Open was disappointing. He was defeated by Alejandro Davidovich Fokina after a three-set close battle in the third round. The Dane is set to return next week at the Italian Masters.
