The Boston Celtics and Jayson Tatum have finally secured their place in the Eastern Conference semi-finals. The Atlanta Hawks were defeated by 128-120 during Game 6 of the first-round series. The Celtics won the first two home games and split the other two in Atlanta. The Celtics were up 3-1 going into Game 5 and seemed to be a solid team to win the series. However, Trae Young’s clutch performance forced Game 6.
The Celtics had a tough time in Game 6. The Hawks were able to keep the lead through three quarters. A late surge by the Celtics in the fourth-quarter helped them win the game, and end the series with a score of 4-2. Tatum scored 30 points, grabbed 14 rebounds and shot 55% on the field. He also shot 40% from beyond the arch. The Celtics won this game with a collective effort.
Jaylen brown also had a great performance, scoring 32 points. Trae’s heroics during Game 5 in Boston would not have allowed the series to continue. The Hawks’ guard scored 38 points, had 13 assists and hit the game-winning logo in Game 5. The Celtics had been the favorites going into the series. They did win the series but it took longer than expected.
Jackson was to perform at the State Farm Arena, Atlanta’s Hawks home stadium on Thursday, the night before the Hawks were to play the Celtics in Game 6 of the NBA Finals. As a result of the Hawks taking Boston to six consecutive games, the concert was postponed until Friday night. Tatum apologized for this to the pop icon.
Jayson T. Tatum apologizes to Janet Jackson for showing no mercy to Hawks
Jayson Tatum apologized for the game in the post-game interviews, saying “I would like to send an apology the legend Janet Jackson.” In Boston, we were supposed to finish the game (Game 5). She had to cancel her show. I hope she reads this. Sorry. We got the job done today .”. Tatum’s petty behavior after the Game 6 victory shocked even the fans.
Janet’s concert has been moved to April 28th as she will continue her tour. The Celtics are now in the second round, and will face the Philadelphia 76ers. Both teams are the top teams in the East and it will be exciting to see the outcome of the series, if all players are healthy.
