Miami Heat is on fire as they win their second game in a row over the Boston Celtics. Jimmy Butler delivered a clutch effort to help the Heat overcome a nine-point loss in the fourth-quarter.
Butler had 27 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocks. He took the game over in the last minutes. He had a heated exchange with Grant Williams of the Celtics, who fouled him on a layup then tried to get into his face. Williams, who was having a bad night with nine fouls and three points, was taken out of the match by coach Joe Mazzulla. Butler was clearly better than him and he had no positive impact on the Celtics.
Other NBA players mocked Williams for teasing the wrong man.
Draymond, known for his trash talking, tweeted, “Gotta be able to know when and who to talk to…Jimmy Cookin Grant.” And now he’s out lol
Donovan Mitchell who had a successful season with the Cleveland Cavaliers also tweeted “Don’t poke the Bear” along with a laughing emoticon.
When asked, Did Grant Williams make a wrong poking the bear by Jimmy Butler?, Willams’ teammate Jaylen brown, didn’t seem to be too interested in the question, and simply said Next Question.
Jimmy Butler responds to Grant Williams trash talk, leads Heat to victory
Butler and Williams discussed their clash after the match, and both players displayed some respect towards each other.
“I believe he said something, and I responded… I am not going to run away… For me, I have to understand that he did indeed ‘poke the bear’… I respect him for being a motherf*cking athlete.” Williams stated.
It makes me focus more on the game and pushes my will to win more. Butler said, “It makes me smile…I do respect him…I just don’t think I’m the right person to speak to .” Butler.
The Celtics trail the Heat 2-0 in the series. If they don’t want to fall into an unsurmountable hole, they will have to win Game 3 in Miami on Sunday. The Celtics showed flashes in both games, but failed to execute at the end.
The Celtics must find a solution to slowing down Butler and the supporting cast, while getting better production from their stars. Jayson Tatum scored 34 points and had eight assists in the Game 2, but only shot 3-of-10 deep. Brown scored 16 points, had four rebounds, and missed six out of seven attempts at three-pointers.
The Celtics showed that they could compete with the Heat. However, they need to show more urgency and discipline if they hope to win the championship. The Heat will try to keep up their momentum, and push the Celtics close to elimination.
