Al Ittihad, Al Nassr and other Saudi Arabian clubs are interested in signing French midfielder N’Golo Kante from Chelsea FC this summer. Kante’s Chelsea contract will expire this summer, and the club has not yet approached him to extend his stay.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romao’s reports, Saudi emissaries visited London to make an official offer to Kante. Kante played a key role at North London but he was injured for most of last season. Kante was interested in signing a new contract with Chelsea, despite the fact that he had interest from around the world.
Romano claimed that the Saudi bids could reach EUR100m, including image rights and commercial deals. Kante came close to signing a contract extension with North London, but it never happened.
Al Nassr, and Al Ittihad from Saudi Arabia have both signed top-class European players with astronomical deals. Al Nassr signed Cristiano Cristiano , a Portuguese superstar with a contract worth almost EUR200m / season. The player had left Manchester United after a difficult second stint.
Al Ittihad has also shocked the world by signing French striker Karim Bélhema from Real Madrid. The contract of the striker with Real Madrid included an automatic clause for a one-year contract extension. The club and he parted ways on mutual terms. Roman claims that Benzema moved to Al Ittihad with a similar financial structure. Ballon d’Or winner would reportedly earn close to EUR100m plus benefits per season. His contract is valid until 2025, but he will have the option of extending it for an additional year.
Kante will either be able to play with Ronaldo, or his countryman Benzema, depending on the direction he moves. For now, nothing is confirmed although there will be more talks before anything concrete comes up.
