The Wurth 400 will be held at Dover International Speedway on Sunday April 30, 2023. This race is the 11 th regular-season Cup race. In the 1 mile, the top stock car racing drivers will be battling it out to conquer the monster mile within 400 laps. Three former cup champions will also be looking to win a big race at the track during the weekend.
The trio of Kyle Busch (two-time Cup Series champion), Kevin Harvick (2014 Cup Champion) and Martin Truex Jr., 2017 Cup Champion for JGR, are in the running to face the millstone. The three drivers have all won three Cup races on the track. They are the most successful drivers at that track. If any of them scored an aw there on Sunday they would be the windiest. It is even more exciting to see who can break the record, given that the drivers race for different manufacturers.
Kyle Busch, the only one of the three drivers to have won a race this year, is the only one. He has won twice in this year. In Fontana, and on Sunday, last at Talladega with the No. 8 Camaro ZL1 of his new team Richard Childress Racing. He is the most knowledgeable driver, and the odds are in his favor. Harvick is now in the lead on the list of active cup drivers with 63 race wins.
Kevin Harvick will be fighting to win his 61 st Cup races in his final Cup season as he prepares to retire in 2023. The No. 4 Ford Mustang is among the most reliable in the gage. However, the lack of good execution hurts him when it comes time to win. After a disappointing finish at Talladega, he is looking to redeem himself in Dover.
No:19 Toyota Camry Driver Martin Truex Jr. will race at his home track. He is desperate to win. He hasn’t been able to win a race since 2021, and had a terrible season in 2022 with JGR after being winless. Although he ended the curse of the winless in the LA Clash race, a win that pays points is still out of the question. He still has two more races in which he can be a top contender.
Dover will be a crucial place for their track position
In the past, the unique concrete oval hosted some exciting races and favored drivers who had the best track positions on race day. It is therefore important that the three drivers perform well in qualifying to secure a front-row start. Martin Turex Jr., his teammate Denny Hamlin, and the active drivers with the most poles in Dover give him an advantage. Next-Gen cars have made it harder for drivers to pass one another during the race. This will also be a factor.
“I think we need to build on the lessons we learned from last year and hopefully, we can qualify well.” When you qualify well, you usually get a great pit stall and that helps you have a better day. Martin Truex Jr. stated that staying in front for the entire day is important. Track position is also important because it is hard to pass.
“But Dover has always been very difficult, so knowing how to maneuver your car to navigate the traffic is key. It’s always been that way.” Kevin Harvick stated that if you are stuck in one line at Dover, you could get into serious trouble.
