Since the new F1 regulations took effect in 2022, Mercedes has struggled. Silver Arrows have been beaten by Red Bull, the Milton-Keynes team that continues to dominate F1. The German team is planning major updates for the F1 season 2023. Toto Wolff , Team Principal, expressed his confidence in the team’s ability to recover from current struggles.
The 51-year old said that the Silver Arrows must develop faster than Red Bull Racing. Mercedes wanted to be able to compete again for victories. Toto Wolff stated, “We know that we must recover. We need a steeper curve of development than Red Bull, and we fundamentally want to compete to win races. They are now setting the benchmark .”
The Austrian billionaire had confidence in the Mercedes F1 members to make rapid progress during this season. Toto Wolff is confident that the team will improve despite all the obstacles. He said, “We believe in the process, in the people and that there will be some setbacks.” If the trajectory is upward, then that’s where you want to go .”
Wolff stated that the team’s 2023 season so far has been positive. The team has shown some promising results, such as Lewis Hamilton’s podium finish in Australia. Toto Wolff added , “In terms car development, I think it’s encouraging to see we are on the correct trajectory after three races. We have defined the direction we need to take and we believe we are in the right track.”

Mercedes’ team boss, Toto Wolff, admitted that his team needed to pool its knowledge of the car in order to make the next leap in the development cycle. He said, “We must consolidate our understanding. Hopefully over the next few race we can make another leap.” Totowolff believes this path should remain clear without deviations. Wolff stated , “It is also important to stay on track and avoid oscillating too much between exuberance or depression.”
Toto Wolff also wanted his team’s confidence in their abilities and to follow a logical course. The team would then be able to give Lewis Hamilton and George Russell a car that was capable of competing at the front. He concluded by saying, “to remain rational and to believe in our trajectory. Believe in the ability of the team.” We will have setbacks, but we will also make improvements and do a lot of work to get us closer to the front .”
Toto Wolff insists that Mercedes has made progress in the early years of 2023 F1. The 51-year old believes that the Silver Arrows will be able to turn things around in this season, as they work on upgrading the team. Wolff is confident that his team will deliver positive results this season. Toto’s goal of returning to the top in 2023 will only be realized with time.
