Umpire Carlos Bernardes Gives Holger Rune an Important Lesson!

There was drama in the match between Holger Rune vs. Alejandro Davidovich Fokina at the Madrid Open. Rune, a Danish player, got into trouble with Carlos Bernardes, the umpire, after he allegedly erased a mark Davidovich Fokina complained about earlier in game.

Rune’s actions, despite being reviewed and heavily debating the call, still caused controversy. Bernardes warned Rune that his actions could worsen an already agitated crowd.

Carlos Bernardes replied, “I said it once in Monte Carlo but that was okay. You cannot control crowds if they are treated in this way… and it will only get worse if the practice continues. Bernardes said to Rune that if you only play tennis, the crowd will not do anything else. “I am just trying to assist you in this because I know from experience that you cannot play if you start doing it.” “What you did was not justified.”

The exchange between Carlos Bernardes, and Rune added to an already intense atmosphere in the match. It has been a drama-filled affair. Rune’s future is still uncertain. Will he heed Bernardes advice to stay focused on his tennis game or will the controversy continue to follow him through the tournament?
