Veteran Anthony Smith Warns Alex Pereira Before Light Heavyweight Move after Izzy Loss

Alex Pereira announced earlier that he would be competing in UFC’s lightweight division. Anthony Smith, a veteran fighter, doesn’t appear to be too concerned by Pereira’s choice. Smith recently expressed his opinion on Pereira’s decision to compete in light heavyweight.

Alex Pereira has announced that after losing the UFC Middleweight Championship to his competitor Israel Adesanya he will compete in the 205-pound category. As the news spread about the light-heavyweight division, Anthony Smith was aware of the damage that a person could do at his weight. Smith has good striking skills like Alex Pereira. Smith, while speaking to LowKick MMA made a bold claim that could be a challenge for Pereira.

Anthony replied, “It’s just another dude.” When asked about his opinion on Alex Pereira moving up to the light-heavyweight weight class, he said, “It’s what it is.” Smith also made an interesting statement about Pereira’s height when he compared Pereira to Aleksandar Rahic. He said: “I think he will have trouble at 205.” He’s an absolute monster Light Heavyweight. Put that guy next to Aleksandar Rakic, and that guy will make him appear tiny. “

Anthony Smith added, “He is just a regular 205er who’s in the Top 7 to 8.” Israel Adesanya, who had earlier praised Poatan’s size, said, “What an odd body type. He has a body made for fighting. He may have ancestors who were 10 feet tall. They are the ones who are 10 foot tall ,” in MMA Fighting.

Adesanya and Anthony Smith disagree on the strengths of Alex Pereira

Anthony Smith said that his size was a huge advantage at 185. He was big at 185 .” but his real opponent has a completely different view of him.

Smith commented on Alex’s grappling abilities, saying that he believes Alex is an excellent striker but not wrestler or grappler. Anthony said: “There are more grapplers, and there are guys who are — I suppose I can’t say that. There are also a lot grapplers at the 185 weight class. He only ran into one. Ankalaev will take him down, but only if Pereira is able to get up. I’d rather see him with Rakic .”

The middleweight champion thinks that it won’t be easy for them. “They’re going to see how ‘easy it is’. Take him down. It’s the best you can do. If you’re going to stick with him, good luck. You’re going to need it .” Izzy revealed his real facts after he won the match against Alex. Izzy lost to a lighter heavyweight by grappling alone, despite the differences between middleweights and light-heavyweights.
