Miami Heat pulled off an amazing upset when they eliminated Milwaukee Bucks, the number one seed in the first round. The Miami Heat did it without two of their most important players, Tyler Herro and Victor Oladipo. Tyler Herro had broken his finger before the postseason. Oladipo’s injury occurred in the first round of the playoffs against the Bucks.
The 30-year old guard averaged 11 points per game and 3 rebounds in the first two rounds. Oladipo hurt his knee during the fourth quarter of Game 3 in the series. Oladipo was driving to the basket with the Heat leading by 24 points when he took a wrong step and changed his course. The guard fell to the ground while he was trying a layup. He couldn’t stand up. The Heat staff carried him off and he didn’t return.
After an MRI, it was discovered that Victor Oladipo had torn his Patellar Tendon. He would miss the rest of the postseason. Miami Heat looked even less able to compete in the postseason. Miami beat the Bucks with Jimmy Butler. As they move on to the Eastern Conference Semifinals, the team will face the Philadelphia 76ers.
Oladipo played a bigger role in the postseason after Herro’s injuries. Victor averaged 10 points and 3 rebounds in 42 regular-season games. No Timetable was announced later by the team for his return after his patellar surgery. Oladipo played a major role for the Heat, as you can see from the statistics. His injury will affect him mentally. His career has been hampered by injuries that have occurred simultaneously.
Victor Oladipo missed more than 250 games over the past four years
Oladipo’s last appearance among the top league guards was during the 2017-18 season. Oladipo was a guard for the Indiana Pacers and had his best season there, with an average of 23 points and 5 rebounds. The following season would be a nightmare for him as he was injured half way through the season. The fans would never see Victor Oladipo at his best again as he missed 255 out of 374 games in the following years.
Oladipo made his return to basketball in 2022-23 after missing four years. He will undergo rehab while the Heat continue to play without him during the remainder of the postseason. Oladipo’s season hasn’t been the best this year either, so a return after this injury will have a greater impact. It will be fascinating to see how Victor Oladipo’s future unfolds and if he returns by the regular season.
