This week’s SmackDown episode marked the official start of the WWE Draft 2020. The Draft’s first night was filled with surprises and excitement. The rosters of some of the biggest names were changed, reinvigorating each brand. The Draft is a chance to start anew in SmackDown and Raw .
Triple H, WWE’s Chief Content Officer, appeared on SmackDown this week to kick off the historic night. The Game revealed the first round of Draft 2023 to the delight of fans. SmackDown chose Roman Reigns as their first selection in the Draft. Cody Rhodes was the first choice for Monday Night Raw.
In the first round of the Women’s Draft, Bianca Belair took the top pick. Becky Lynch and the EST will be moving to SmackDown, while Becky Lashley will remain on Monday Night Raw. Some of the biggest stars will also switch brands, including Gunther and Bobby Lashley. Along with the OC, AJ Styles returned to SmackDown as part of the Draft.
The Street Profits, Damage CTRL, and other factions exchanged their brand names during the Draft. Indi Hartwell, the NXT Women’s Champion, was one of the surprises in the Draft. Her main roster debut was a truly historic moment. Alfa Fyre, Isla dawn and the NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion were also drafted onto the main roster.
